Before this morning I had never heard of the term infobesitas. I was driving in the car while listening to the radio. In the radio show they were calling someone who had her own company, this company was there to look out for new and interesting facts on the internet. Information. When the company has found interesting facts they send links to all of their members so that they can see it too.
During this radioconversation "infobesitas" had come to terms. What is this actually? Is is a disease? Well, it could be called a disease, it actually is the need for information during every second of the day. People who do not want to miss anything about the news or follow for example, Twitter, Facebook and Hyves all day long, have infobesitas.
The job from the woman of the company is to check all this information, but for most people it is dangerous and a great seduction while they are working. You do not have the time to check all these sites constantly during the day. People are expected to do real work, and produce something.
Are we going too far with this information society? It seems to be difficult to not check your mail every 10 minutes. I do not really know what to think, I might say that I suffer from infobesitas. I just bought a phone with an internetconnection!

To tweet-twit-twittered!?
Twitter is my new project, while writing my blog I have already told my "followers" that I am actually blogging at this very moment. Telling where you are and what you are doing is the purpose of Twitter..... I thought.
Well, there is actually more behind the idea of Twitter. This afternoon I have read an article in NRC Magazine about Twittering. Biz Stone and Evan Williams started Twitter in 2006 with the purpose of Twittering as media use. They want Twitter to be the "heartbeat of the planet".
"Drinking coffee" and "taking a shower" are not the only terms that come to mind when people think of Twitter (in addition to what most people do think).
Twitter is multifunctional, for example; it can be used to spread news over the world, you can meet people and build a network, you can promote your products, and off course, you can follow your favorite celebrity. I know that not everyone will like Twitter, some people want to keep things private, but the thing with Twitter is, that you can decide for yourself what to say or not to say. We do want to keep things private, but we also like to take a peak into someones life, another possibility of Twitter.
While I am exploring the advantages and disadvantages of Twitter, you can look forward to my upcoming blogs about media use!
