Remind me to pay!

Metro 29th of April:
"Debt collection agencies are planning to send tweets in the future." The reason why they want to do this is because of the debts that people have in Holland. Nowadays there are 52250 people that have debt problems in Holland. By sending people a text message or tweet they immediately know that they have a bill to pay, en they will pay a lot faster, says Jet Creemers, chairwoman of this branch. Another reason to send tweets and text messages is to reduce administration costs. Debt collection agencies do no longer have to send reminders, and reminders with extra costs.

So can you imagine? You are sitting in the train and you get a reminder of a bill that you had to pay yesterday. In my opinion it is good to implement new programs and technologies in for example debt collection agenies, but if it works I do not know. Twitter is not meant for reminders of bills. Twitter was designed for publicity. So it may not have the effect that is wanted with these reminders via Twitter or your cell phone.

For the future there will be a lot more of these plans, not only the debt collection branche wants to use these platforms, but I think that a lot of companies discover, that for example, Twitter is a platform where you can reach your "customer".

While I am writing this blog I already get more used to the idea that my cell phone and computer are there for reminders. It may be quite easy to get such an alarm for paying my bills. I think that it is just a fact of getting used to it.
